Underwriters Laboratories (UL), an independent, not-for-profit product safety testing and certification organization, recently posted an article outlining results from its compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) safety study. The results showed the the bulbs can be used without concern for fire or shock hazards, and with very minimal concern for the trace of mercury contained in CFLs. “In fact, consumers are more likely to suffer an injury installing the CFL, rather than from the CFL itself,” the article states.
